Using AI Tools Safely: Privacy Basics for Creators and Businesses
Simple habits that keep your customers' data and your own accounts safe while working with AI.
AI tools are now part of everyday work, and most of the risks come from ordinary habits rather than exotic attacks. A few simple rules go a long way.
Do not paste private customer data
Names, phone numbers, addresses and payment details do not belong in a chat window. Replace them with placeholders before asking for help.
Use strong, unique passwords
Every AI and design tool account should have its own password and, wherever possible, two-step sign-in. One leaked password should never open every door.
Check generated code before publishing
If an AI builds part of your website, make sure that sign-in pages, admin areas and payment flows are protected. Ask for a security review, and test it yourself while signed out.
Be careful with links and files
Do not open attachments or links in AI-generated emails without checking where they really go.
Keep a human in the loop
AI is fast but it does not carry responsibility. Review anything that goes to customers, especially prices, promises and legal text.
Know what you agreed to
Read how each tool uses your data, and choose settings that match your comfort level. Safe habits let you enjoy the speed of AI without the surprises.
